Known to many as “The Migraine Girl” she’s dealt with both chronic migraine disease & autoimmune disease for more than half her life, Janet finally feels as if she has figured out a way to live happily even with her health issues (at least most of the time). Janet started by anonymously blogging as “The Migraine Girl” in the early 2000s & at last shared her secret identity with friends & family in 2008 when The New York Times recommended her site. She is a featured writer for migraine.com and has appeared in the press for her work as “The Migraine Girl”. In 2011, Janet opened Avid Bookshop, a community-focused, independent bookstore in Athens.

Alan Rapoport, MD

Dr. Alan M. Rapoport is a Clinical Professor of Neurology at The David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, Los Angeles, California, where he teaches medical students, neurology residents and fellows.

He is a Past President of the International Headache Society (IHS) and the founder and Director-Emeritus of The New England Center for Headache, in Stamford, Connecticut. Board-certified in Neurology and Headache Medicine, he has co-authored more than 350 articles, chapters and posters on headache and other neurological diseases.

He is an editor of Headache, CNS Drugs and Editor in Chief of Neurology Reviews. He reviews for many peer-reviewed journals such as Cephalalgia, Neurology, New England Journal of Medicine and Headache.

Christina Treppendahl, FNP-BC, AQH, MHD

Ms. Treppendahl is the founder and director of the Annual Mississippi Headache Symposium, The Headache Center Institute, The Headache Center Fellowship, Headache Neurology Research Institute, and The Headache Center in Mississippi. She is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with a specialty in headache and migraine.

Ms. Treppendahl was awarded a Certificate of Added Qualification in Headache Medicine from the National Headache Foundation in 2016, and she was awarded America’s Top Nurse Practitioner in 2018. She has been invited to participate on advisory boards, serve as a consultant, and has presented nationally and internationally on the topic of headache.

She is an active member of the International Headache Society, the American Headache Society, the National Headache Foundation, the Southern Headache Society, the Headache Cooperative of New England, and the Headache Cooperative of the Pacific. Serene Branson

Serene Branson is an Emmy Award-winning journalist and the recipient of the Frank Shakespeare Award for Outstanding Achievement in Journalism. She has had over thirteen years of live TV experience, including covering the bombing of the Boston Marathon and some of California’s largest natural disasters. Serene has also interviewed some of Hollywood’s biggest celebrities, reporting on the red carpets of the Grammys, the Oscars, and the Emmys. Serene also worked at the CBS affiliate in Sacramento, where she covered state politics, including Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

In February 2011 Serene Branson suffered a neurological episode on air while reporting for the Grammys. Her slurred, incoherent speech went viral, as bewildered viewers suspected she was having a stroke. It was actually a case of transient aphasia, one of the stranger symptoms of migraine that can mimic a stroke. Serene has utilised her exposure from this episode to raise awareness of migraine. She currently reports for KCBS 2 and KCAL 9 News in Los Angeles.

Audrey Craven is the founder and president of the Migraine Association of Ireland (MAI), and is an internationally acknowledged patient advocate for migraine. She is the immediate past president of both the European Headache Alliance (EHA) and the European Federation of Neurological Association (EFNA). Audrey Craven has also been involved in the Irish Brain Council, the Irish Health Service Executive, the World Headache Alliance (WHA), the Patient Consumer and Working Group (PCWP) at the European Medicines Agency, and is a the former Chairperson of the Neurological Alliance of Ireland (NAI). Lars Edvinsson, MD

Professor Lars Edvinsson is the leading expert in the field of cerebral circulation and migraine. He has received global recognition for his work on vascular innervation and receptor regulation, and his extensive research has been a major contributor to what is known about cerebral vasculature in health and disease. He has written the major textbook in this field, Cerebral Blood Flow & Metabolism. His groundbreaking work on the sensory system has resulted in new medicine being introduced, including small molecular CGRP-blockers for acute attacks and antibodies towards CGRP or CGRP-receptors as prophylaxis for chronic migraine.

Lars Edvinsson is a physician at the Department of Emergency and Internal Medicine, Skåne University Hospital and professor of Internal medicine at Lund University. He is chairman of the Swedish Migraine Society and the current president of the International Headache Society. In 2007 Lars Edvinsson was the founder, and is now the director, of the Glostrup Research Park, Copenhagen, and in 2008 was called to be professor at the Copenhagen University in “Receptor Regulation in Cerebrovascular and Cardiovascular Diseases.” In 2012 he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Headache Society and was also awarded an honorary doctorate degree by the University of Szeged in Hungary. He has co-authored over 950 scientific publications and has served since 1985 as the head of the Division of Experimental Vascular Research, Lund University, Sweden, at the Biomedical Center in Lund.

Bronwyn Jenkins, MD

Dr Bronwyn Jenkins, BMed FRACP, is a consultant neurologist in Sydney, Australia. She graduated from The University of Newcastle in 1995. Dr Jenkins did a fellowship in Stroke at Royal North Shore Hospital. Dr Jenkins attended the International Headache Society Headache Master School in Tokyo, Japan in 2013. She is one of the founding members and Co-Secretary for the recently formed Australian and New Zealand Headache Society (ANZHS) which aims to improve management of headache patients in the Australian and New Zealand region. She is involved in the therapeutics and research subcommittees of ANZHS. Dr Jenkins is also a member of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Neurologists, International Headache Society and the International Association for the Study of Pain. She works as a consultant neurologist in private rooms at St Leonards and Epping.

Richard B. Lipton, MD

Dr. Richard B. Lipton is an expert in headache and migraine management, as well as cognitive aging and dementia. He serves as the director of the Montefiore Headache Center and holds the prestigious Edwin S. Lowe chair in neurology at Albert Einstein University in New York. Internationally acclaimed for his contributions to headache diagnosis, classification, epidemiology, and treatment, Dr. Lipton has an impressive bibliography with 11 books and over 1,000 articles in indexed journals. His textbook, Headache in Clinical Practice, earned him the Medical Book Award from the British Medical Association.

He is past president of the American Headache Society (AHS), and is an associate editor for Cephalalgia: An International Journal of Headache. Additionally, he contributes to several other editorial boards, including for Neurology. His outstanding research has been recognized six times with the Harold G. Wolff Lecture Award from the AHS. Beyond neurology, Dr. Lipton is also a professor in psychiatry, behavioral sciences, epidemiology, and population health at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Andrew Shubov, MD

Dr. Andrew Shubov is a subspecialty consultant at the UCLA Center for East–West Medicine and is an assistant clinical professor within the UCLA Department of Medicine. Dr. Shubov obtained his medical degree from the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. He completed an additional two-year fellowship training in integrative medicine at the Center for East–West Medicine, during which he joined the UCLA hospital department as a way to connect his work to the hospitalized patient population.
