An expert in the field and a leading advocate, Scott is a trustee of OUCH, the Organisation for the Understanding of Cluster Headache, based in the United Kingdom. He has been a member since 2003 and joined the helpline team in 2007; in 2014 he accepted a position as a trustee, and coordinates many of the regional meetings. Frederick Godley, MD
Dr. Frederick Godley is an ENT-otolaryngologist and is the co-founder and current president of the Association of Migraine Disorders, a not-for-profit organisation. Dr. Godley graduated from the Boston University School of Medicine in 1983 and completed his general surgical residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. His specialty training was at the Yale–New Haven Hospital. In keeping with the spirit of both giving to and learning from others, Dr. Godley has taught young surgeons at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, the Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary, and currently the Rhode Island Hospital. Paul G. Mathew, MD, DNBPAS, FAAN, FAHS
Paul G. Mathew, MD, DNBPAS, FAAN, FAHS, completed his neurology residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, and completed a fellowship in headache medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. He is board certified in neurology and headache medicine. He is currently an assistant professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School (HMS), and an affiliate member of the HMS Division of Sleep Medicine. He holds positions at three HMS-affiliated institutions. He has clinical appointments at Mass General Brigham and Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates/Atrius Health, as well as a teaching appointment at the Cambridge Health Alliance. As part of his headache and sports neurology/concussion practice, Dr. Mathew performs Botox injections, nerve blocks, and trigger point injections.
He has written over 90 publications and has presented at both national and international conferences. He is the co-chief medical editor of the journal Practical Neurology. He is the current chair of the American Headache Society’s Trigeminal Autonomic Cephalgia Special Interest Section, a member of the board of directors of the National Headache Foundation, the neurology representative on the board of directors of the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons, and an executive board member of the Indian Medical Association of New England.

Juliana VanderPluym, MD
Dr. Juliana VanderPluym is an assistant professor and senior associate consultant in the Department of Neurology within the Division of Headache at the Mayo Clinic Arizona. She received her medical training from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and also completed her residency training in Pediatric Neurology at the University of Alberta. Dr. VanderPluym has presented at the International Headache Academy and has published her research in Neurology, Headache, and other medical journals. Dr. Timothy R. Smith is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Headache Society, a certified physician investigator of the Academy of Clinical Research Professionals, and Vice President of the National Headache Foundation. He has been the principal investigator of more than 200 clinical trials and original research projects. He has over 40 peer-reviewed publications to his credit, and has written over 200 other articles, abstracts, and book chapters over the course of his career. Dr. Smith has a special interest in patient and physician issues that relate to treatment of headache in primary care. An advisor to research organizations, educational foundations, and pharmaceutical corporations, Dr. Smith is a frequent lecturer on headache topics at a national level.
Dr. Smith has received a number of awards in the field of headache management, including the Migraine Innovators Award, the NHF Lectureship Award and the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award with Special Commendation. His research has twice been awarded the AHS’s Kaplan Award for Research in Chronic Daily Headache. In 2015, Dr. Smith was honored with the National Headache Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
Allan Purdy, MD
Dr. Allan Purdy is a neurologist and a professor at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada. Dr. Purdy is currently President of the American Headache Society. He has also served as president of the Canadian Headache Society and on the Board of Directors for the International Headache Society.
Dr. Purdy is regarded as one of the most gifted teachers in the field, developing educational programs for physicians around the world who care for patients with headache diseases.
