The Migraine World Summit is an annual live event held each year in March. It is available for free online.

The Migraine World Summit provides an opportunity to improve understanding of migraine and headache disorders for people living with migraine and their caregivers by providing access to leading headache experts from around the world.

Our mission is to reduce the global burden of migraine. By giving access to many of the world’s top practitioners, information is shared that can be discussed with viewers’ own healthcare professionals to improve their health and wellness.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Articles team creates high quality, in-depth articles that help people living with migraine and headache disorders better understand their condition and treatment options. 

Using expert interviews, transcripts from the Migraine World Summit library, published research, and other trusted sources, our writers transform complex medical information into clear, accessible, reader-centered content. Unlike traditional blog writing, our articles are educational resources designed to provide balanced, accurate, and practical information.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Transform expert interview transcripts, research findings, and other source materials into well-structured, in-depth articles (typically 1,500+ words).
• Research topics related to migraine and headache disorders and critically evaluate relevant information and sources.
• Use approved AI tools appropriately to support research, content development, editing, and workflow efficiency.
• Develop ideas for visual elements, graphics, tables, or other content enhancements that improve readability and engagement.
• Familiarize yourself with and apply the principles of MWS writing guides.
• Attend onboarding and required team-specific training sessions.
• Participate in team meetings up to twice per month, and occasional full-MWS-team Town Halls.
• Check Slack regularly and communicate progress throughout the writing process.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Excellent written English and strong written communication skills
• Ability to absorb complex information and communicate it clearly and accurately
• Strong organizational and content-structuring skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Familiarity with migraine and headache disorders
• Experience with Google Workspace, particularly Google Docs, or willingness to take the initiative to learn the basics independently
• Some experience using AI, or willingness to learn how to use approved AI tools to support research and writing
• Ability to follow established guidelines, templates, and workflows
• Ability to work independently and manage assignments reliably in a remote volunteer environment
• Capacity to stay engaged year-round (we know everyone needs breaks, and the team will cover during periods of absence)

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE (helpful, but not required)

• A degree in communications, journalism, or a related field, or experience writing for publications
• Experience with editing or proofreading
• Professional, medical, and/or technical writing experience
• Familiarity with AP style
• Experience using AI to support writing or editing

Location: Flexible

Timeframe/Hours: Approximately 2-10 hours/week throughout the year
